Let It Go

We all have that one thing that we just can’t let go of. The ex that we keep in contact with, the old fling whose phone call we still answer to no matter what time it is, or the toxic habit that we just can’t seem to shake. I mean, let’s face it, we’ve all been there.

Even if you don’t want to admit it, there’s been something or someone that you can’t quite seem to let go of.

Have you even taken a moment to realize how not letting go of something can affect your future? It seems like common sense, right?

However, for some of us, drunken in bad habits, that’s not always the case.

We get a thrill from the unhealthy and toxic behavior, the late-night text messages or phone calls, the 'likes' on social media, or even just a simple, “hey, how’s life” text. It’s like reassurance and comfort wrapped in a nice warm blanket.

But no matter how comforting it is, it’s usually very unhealthy. It can also be a direct road block and distraction from what God is trying to do in your life. How can He release the new when you’re still holding on to the old? How can He trust you not to mismanage new blessings because of your failure to release of old habits?

As a matter of fact, what if He blessed you with the exact thing you’ve fasted, prayed, and completely bugged Him about? Would you even be ready to receive it, or, would you have to step back and risk losing the very thing you’ve wanted so badly because of your inability to let go of old things.

I know what you’re thinking, “If God has it for me, it’s mine.”

Where that can be true, we can also forfeit the promises of Him due to disobedience; and remember, partial obedience is still disobedience.

Some doors will be opened; however, poor priorities can cause the door to be missed or even closed. The bottom line is, you cannot see what is ahead, constantly looking behind.

For example, it’s like a runner trying to win a race.

If the runner, runs as fast as he or she can to win but constantly looks back, they run a tremendous risk of losing. Why? Because looking back at their opponents slows them down. They are too focused on what’s behind instead of what’s ahead.

Are you willing to risk your future because of your inability to let go? If the answer is no, then guess what, IT IS TIME TO LET IT GO!

Don’t be the person full of regrets and a ton of should’ve, could’ve, would’ve statements because of your fear of change and new beginnings.
