Fulfilling Your Fullest Potential

Potential is defined as having or showing the capacity to become or develop into something. If you were to simply live life according to the idea or possibility of what you could become, based on that definition alone, would you ever fulfill your God given purpose or assignment?

I will give you a moment to consider the question but don’t ponder there too long because the answer is simply, NO.

Often times, meaningful statements are made according to the premature feeling of falling in love with what something or someone has the potential to become.

This statement is no different as it pertains to you, specifically. If you fall in love with the underdeveloped you, you will never fulfill your fullest potential. You will never complete the business venture, dreams of attending college, or even desires to break toxic habits and generational curses because you always “said” but never did.

Yes, you had the vision, and maybe you even took the time to write it down, but you never created a plan or strategy to make those things come to pass.

My Pastor use to frequently say that one of the richest places on Earth is a cemetery. Why? Because there are so many people lying in rest with untapped potential, a wealth of knowledge, unspoken ideas, and vision that was never casted.

Because I personally desire that you become everything that God has created you to be, here are a few steps that can aid you in reaching your fullest potential.

  • PRAY: If you don’t have time to do it right, you must have time to do it over. Without prayer, you lack proper direction and counsel. Reaching your fullest potential cannot occur if you do not have a conversation with the one who created you and everything that you are destined to become. (Read Jeremiah 29:11)

  • WRITE THE VISION: Habakkuk 2:2 states that you should write the vision and make it plain. Our everyday lives can sometimes be a world wind of busyness and distractions; therefore, it is extremely important that you write down your dreams, your visions, your goals, and your plans. Just as quickly as the thought comes, it can be taken away. Especially, if you are easily distracted.

  • STRATEGY: Create a realistic strategy and timeline, doing so, will assist you with holding yourself accountable for what it is you desire to accomplish. Also, step milestones. Milestones will serve as checkpoints in knowing and analyzing whether or not you are headed down the path of success. Lastly, set timers (dates) and reminders so that you do not lose sight of the vision that has been written. You should not be in this same place with this same vision/goal this time next year.

  • ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER(S): Find a trusted and unbiased friend who doesn’t mind pushing you to become not only everything that you desire, but everything God desires. Your relationships and friendships determine the course of your future! Surround yourself with people who have the power to PUSH you.

  • RESET: You will not get everything right the first time. You must be okay with making mistakes or even starting over. In each step, make sure that you are following the path that God desires. Pray always, “God Your Will be done,” doing so will cancel the plans that you’ve made that are not according to His Will and purpose for your life.

  • REMAIN TEACHABLE: Sorry, but you do not know it all, and you NEVER will. But hey, guess what? That is okay! Never despise where you are because you thought you had things figured out. There is always more to learn.
